Tony Vitello is another person that probably saved Jackson's life with encouragement. Coach Vitello visited Jackson in the hospital multiple times. He consistently connected with Jackson and gave Jackson a sense of value as a person when Jackson was at his lowest point in his life.

Coach Vitello awards a senior player on his team each year who has persevered the most in their college baseball career at the University of Tennessee. The award is called the "Jackson Igou Award."
